In the event of an approaching hurricane, our Storm Protection Panels can be installed quickly and without the need to grommet the panel. Simply install the panels as you would normally, except drill the fastener through the panel. After the storm passes, install the grommets in the holes where the fasteners were.

Because the lack of a grommet reduces the effective strength of the panel, the overall design pressure is reduced from +/- 66 psf to +/- 45 psf. To determine if this method of installation is suitable for your home, refer to the chart below.

Cross reference the Wind Zone and Exposure Category you live in. If you are not sure, consult with your local building officials. Green indicates you can use this method of installation. Yellow indicates you must fully grommet the panel if the opening is within 4 feet of the corner of the building. Red indicates you must fully grommet all panels.
